Differences between Exocrine and Endocrine glands

1. These glands have ducts. These glands lack ducts.
2. Chemical substance secreted by exocrine glands is called enzyme. They secrete a chemical substance called hormone.
3. They secrete and release enzymes through ducts in the target site. They secrete and release their secretions directly into the blood stream.
4. They are located near the target site      (site of action). They are located far away from the target site.
5. They help in short term activity. They help in long term activity related to different physiological activities of our body.
6. Examples: Salivary glands, Intestinal glands, Tear glands etc. Examples: Pituitary gland, Thyroid glands, Adrenal glands etc.
